The Trade Fair component to
the 2005 Business of Sustainability Conference was a
success. A total of 23 local and interstate exhibitors
painted Halls A to D of the Convention Centre a resounding
shade of green! It provided a rare opportunity for guests,
exhibitors and delegates to gather in one spot to share
ideas and develop future business relationships. The scope
of exhibitors was diverse, ranging from waterless car care
products, to local government, constructors and education
providers.
Feedback from the exhibitors was very enthusiastic, with
many exhibitors agreeing the event was very positive for
their businesses. The quality of the exhibits was very high,
with most adding that extra degree of creativity which has
become synonymous with the business of sustainability. The
organisers of the Fish Protech display made good use of
their fishy friend, Spot-the Jade Perch, to fly the flag for
their sustainable range of aquaculture technologies. Spot
was a hit for the exhibitors, who lured in many curious
onlookers. Operations Manager, Paul Bannister, said the
event allowed them talk to people who will be useful in the
future.
The Natural Gas Display featured energy saving technology
provided by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Australia. Glenn
Roulston, Mitsubishi Natural Air Conditioning Service
Manager, said the Trade Fair represented an excellent
display of sustainable business practices. He believes it
was a perfect medium to increase business. Mr Roulston said,
“We are putting forward our products to businesses that
would be interested in using our products in the
construction industry.”
Leonie Weber, Director of No Wet, said the event provider
her with excellent business contacts, which she would not
have received elsewhere. Reflecting on comments by Paul
Perkins, she said the Trade Fair showcased how organisations
such as her waterless car cleaning business, incorporating
green practices into sustainable building design.
Stephen Haines, Chief Executive of the City of Salisbury
said it was fantastic the Property Council of Australia was
taking on this initiative. He said that sustainable business
practices were once considered a fringe issues, but had now
taken centre stage. Mr Haines warned that any business that
does not embrace sustainable business practices will be left
behind. Commenting on the success of the event, he said,
“The Trade Fair has been wonderful to expose the many
industries involved in the business of sustainability.”
We would like to thank all
the Exhibitors for making the event such a success.
